DESCRIPTION
Fiesole was the first town built in the Florence area. It dominates the city of Florence from its rolling hills. Today it is still an easy break from Florence crowd where to enjoy unique views, visit local features such as the Roman amphitheater and the Medici villas.
Perfect for wedding receptions and events, it welcomes guests with a wonderful terrace overlooking Florence, its peaceful green gardens and its pleasant indoor halls. A 16th century castle built incorporating a tower from the 13th century, whose outer walls are still visible, along with a few windows and barrel vault ceilings. During the recent renovation, the tower built into the outer walls of the villa could be identified. The courtyard is attributed to Buontalenti because of the elegance of the loggia and for the telescope effect of the doors that open onto a nymph in the background. The original beauty was restored by careful renovation that eliminated the 19th century changes, conserving at the same time the ceilings, pavements and original windows and doors. Today Villa Montefiano has been completely furnished with period pieces and maintains the warmth and intimacy of a lived-in home.
